A disappointingly small turnout! Galina Vale's performance was superb- if you didn't come, you missed a great evening! perhaps it was the start of the cold weather which kept folks away. We hope to invite Galina and her group to perform again in the coming year: watch this blog for dates.
Nigel Sidaway- Mr Solway Arts
In recognition of Nigel's huge contribution to the arts in our area, Jill Faux presented him with a framed photograph and a collection of testimonials, saying:
Three years ago Pat asked me to co-ordinate an effort to get you a gong and many of us have contributed towards the citation.
You have worked tirelessly securing an eclectic mix of professional events, festivals, concerts and shows for our enjoyment ever since.
We are all grateful to both you and Amy for your energy and fortitude.

This is not a Solway Arts production, but I thought it would be of interest to Solway Arts members, and indeed to anyone living in North Cumbria who is interested in theatre and new writing. From time to time, I will post similar items on this blog. If you know of any events of similar interest please let me know by posting a comment.
Jane Gardam is the patron of Solway Arts. She has talked to us several times in the past, and we hope she will visit us again in the New Year to do another Writers at Wheyrigg. She has many memories of our area, as she used to visit her grandmother on her farm near Mealsgate. I was reminded of what a good writer she is, when I came across this article in the New York Times
Although it is now I believe out of print, her stories of childhood memories, amongst them some vivid pictures of North Cumbria, A Few Fair Days is still available on Amazon
